When people use this tool
- Sending only the relevant pages of a contract or report.
- Separating a batch-scanned file into one PDF per invoice or form.
- Breaking a big document into smaller parts to fit an upload size limit.
- Trimming a PDF down to the pages you need. To delete pages instead, use Delete Pages.
Before you split
This tool separates whole pages. It does not cut one page into two halves. To trim margins or crop the visible area of a page, use Crop PDF. To put pages back together afterwards, use Merge PDF. For a longer walkthrough, read our guide on how to split a PDF into separate files.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Upload your PDF, then click "Split All Pages." You get a ZIP file in which every page is its own PDF, named page-1.pdf, page-2.pdf and so on.
How do I cut out only some pages from a PDF?
Type the pages you want (for example "1-3, 7") and click "Extract Pages." Those pages download together as one new PDF.
What page range formats are supported?
Single pages separated by commas ("1,3,5"), ranges with a hyphen ("1-5"), or a mix of both ("1-3,5,8-10"). Page numbers start at 1.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting happens inside your browser, so your file never leaves your device. The original file is never modified; new files are created and downloaded to your device.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. If you know the password, remove it first with Unlock PDF, then split the unlocked file.
